BlackBerry showed off a smartphone code named Venice at MWC 2015 in Barcelona Spain. The device is a slider that runs BlackBerry 10 OS. According to past reports, the Canadian  smartphone maker is planning to launch an Android-powered smartphone. According to hit and miss Russian tech blogger, Eldar Murtazin, the Venice is that device. BlackBerry is expected to launch the Venice in the fall.

Recently on Twitter Murtazin tweeted, “Samsung + BlackBerry = Android-smartphone with Lollipop + services BlackBerry.” The images above shows the Venice side by side with the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. Judging from the leaked specs of the Venice, it looks like the two will share a lot of similarities, namely a 5.1-inch edged screen with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels (Quad HD), an octa-core processor under the hood, a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera, and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.

According to the rumour, Samsung could be involved in designing the rumoured Android-powered slider. Although just a rumour, it would make sense for the two to partner up on a device. After all, both have been working on projects such as an encryption algorithm BlackBerry provides Samsung for the KNOX secure “sandbox,” and the SecuTablet, which is an enterprise Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 that runs BlackBerry’s corporate OS.

Given Murtazin’s hit and miss reputation, take this with a pinch of salt.
